Operation Christmas Child
Shoe Box Packing Party

Operation Christmas Child (a ministry of Samaritan's Purse) is an ongoing mission project that is fun and easy to take part in. We gather gifts and items for children of various ages-goodies, toys, school supplies, toiletries and even handmade dresses and pack them into boxes. The boxes we pack are shipped (with prayers and love) to OCC's shipping center and are sent around the world to children in need. Those children receive gifts and learn about the greatest gift-the love of Christ.

This year we are going to pack our boxes early with a Christmas in July party on Sunday, July 12 (following fellowship lunch). The order for that day will be:

  • no Sunday School Classes

  • Worship: The Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols, a worship service focusing on the Incarnation

  • Fellowship Lunch

  • Shoebox packing party

    • bring gift items that can be packed into the boxes to church by July 5 so they can be sorted and organized. A list of suggested items is below.

    • families will pack boxes for boys and girls of various age groups

    • cookie decorating: after packing boxes everyone will be able to decorate and enjoy cookies as we listen to seasonal music (sign up at church to bring cookies or decorating supplies)

    • a time of prayer to ask God to bless the ministry of both the shoe boxes and the baby bottles for PHC will finish the day

The boxes will be shipped in November to reach the children they are designated for by Christmas and will be distributed at parties of celebration where the gospel will be proclaimed.  Please pray that God will prepare the hearts of the children who will receive the boxes to hear and believe the gospel.
